Monday, 31 January 2011: Blue Tarp Beer at Hans’ Bier Haus

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on January 31st, 2011

Tonight will be the last warm evening for the week, so let’s meet up at our favorite beleaguered bocce ball biergarten,  Hans’ Bier Haus (2523 Quenby St. at Kirby Dr.), at 8 PM.  While we might get some snow later in the week, Hans’ had a couple of highly-localized ice storms last year, so the roof is blue-tarped right now.  They’re still pouring beers, though!  Park on the street as the IBC parking lot is off limits.

Rainy days and Mondays get you down, or are you only happy when it rains?  Either way, stop by The Ginger Man, possibly the nation’s oldest multi-tap craft beer pub, at 5607 Morningside in Rice Village.  See you there at 8 PM.

There’s a whole lot of buzz this week concerning the upcoming beer pub that the folks from Anvil are planning for lower Westheimer.  Based on this early read, it’ll be a place to watch:  Barley Vine: Hay Merchant.

Monday, 17 January 2011: Vieng Thai and Petrol Station

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on January 17th, 2011

The Petrol Station, at 985 Wakefield in pastoral Garden Oaks, recently added a whopping twenty-five taps to their already interesting wall.  That means with 35 craft beers on tap, there’s a better chance that they won’t have floated the keg on the variety you had your heart set on when you get there.  It also means a trip is in order!  See you there at 8 PM.

Pre-meeting dinner is at Vieng Thai, 6929 Long Point Rd, at 6:45 PM.

rudz rudyard's british pubRudyard’s British Pub, in the heart of Hyde Park, at 2010 Waugh, has a nice list of rotating taps that usually has something for everyone (and often some real rarities).  It should be down right chilly tonight (for Houston), so come warm up with great company and great beers.

There are a couple of bands playing upstairs, but we’ll be at ground level.  Parking is available in two lots nearby.
