Monday, 25 July 2011: Post Shuttle Drinks at Liberty Station

Houston, we have no manned space flight program. With the successful completion of STS-135, the Shuttle program is over. So, while we will now pay the Russians to deliver our astronauts to the Space Station with money we borrow from the Chinese (or, in true reflexive fashion, ourselves), let’s have a beer or mixed drink to celebrate/commemorate/commiserate. Or just have one because it’s Monday. Join us at Liberty Station, 2101 Washington Ave, at 8 PM. Their tap list has great variety for its size, and if you’re hungry, there’s probably a food truck outside (you are free to brown bag it as well).

You, loyal Diasporites, helped make The Petrol Station, at 985 Wakefield in thoroughly jaded Garden Oaks, the Most Bitter Bar in America . Their tap selection rotates regularly, happy hour goes on all night, and there’s a burger and pint deal available as well. You’ll still find something to complain about, because, well, you know. See you there at 8 PM.

Hopefully y’all enjoyed the 4th last week and given the continued lack of appreciable rain, stayed safe with the whole fireworks thing. Tonight we’ll be at Under the Volcano, 2349 Bissonnet Street at Morningside, at 8 PM, for beers, tiki drinks, and a great jukebox. See you then!

Those of you not heading out to catch the fireworks and would prefer to grab a good beer instead, head over to The Ginger Man at 5607 Morningside at 8 PM. The G-Man is offering Sam Adams specials, but there are plenty of other options if you’d rather something else. Happy Independence Day!
