Tonight we’re gathering at Anvil, 1424 Westheimer, for libations at 8 PM.  Drinks inspired by this day in history (pick one, or none, but certainly not all):

Drink: Vieux Carré, Sazerac.

1921: 47th running of the Kentucky Derby
Drink: Mint Julep.
1945: Unconditional surrender of German forces by General Alfred Jodl in Rheims, France
Drink: dopplebock, biere de garde.
1994: Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” recovered three months after theft from Oslo museum
Drink: aquavit.
