Join us tonight at Down House, 1801 Yale St., at 8:00 PM for a cocktail or beer, and grab some good grub if you’re peckish.  DH is in the dry part of the Heights, so make sure you bring your I.D. so you can join their club for the night (or your existing club membership card if you’ve been there recently).  Also, they have more parking on 18th half a block west of Yale, if the main parking lot is full.

On this day in 1930, an airplane was launched from an airship for the first time.  While most people can make the obvious connection to dieselpunk, the connection to Texas singer-songwriting is less well known but equally valid.  After all,

On this date in 1915, Orson Welles was born.  And while he was famous for not selling any wine before its time, he also made a few movies.  To commemorate, stop by Liberty Station, 2101 Washington Ave, at 8 PM.  We can’t vouch for the timeliness of any wine they sell, but their tap list has great variety for its size, they have a bar full of certifiably-inspired mixed drinks, and if you’re hungry, there’s probably a food truck outside (you are free to brown bag it as well).  By the way, it was just a sled, dude.
