Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on March 17th, 2014

wholefoodsbigboyToday being one of the high holy days of the amateur drinker’s calendar, we’ll be celebrating Lá Fhéile Pádraig at a somewhat non-traditional drinking establishment:  Whole Foods.  Several of the Whole Foods in the Houston areas wine and beer taps installed, and they do a great job of rotating some interesting kegs through.  You are of course free to grab some groceries while you’re there, or even pick up a slice of pizza or a sandwich.  Join us at 8 PM at 4004 Bellaire Boulevard for a pint or glass. Slainte! (Full disclosure: at least one Diasporite holds stock in Whole Foods Market.)

Monday, 3 March 2014: Star-Spangled Drinks at Under the Volcano

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on March 3rd, 2014

VolcanoOn this day in 1931, President Herbert Hoover signs into law a bill making The Star-Spangled Banner the US National Anthem.  What could be a better way to celebrate on this cold “in like a lion” night than to join us at Under the Volcano, 2349 Bissonnet, at 8 PM for a mixed drink or a beer?  We’ll forgive you if you don’t want to brave one of their signature frozen concoctions that would otherwise help you hang on.  They do have some rather nice augmented coffee drinks, too, you know.  As for music, nothing against the work of Mr. Key, but we recommend sticking to the great jukebox.
