Monday, 21 April 2014: Beers for Independence at Cottonwood

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on April 21st, 2014

2012-12-05 19.50.48On this day in 1836, the Texan Army routed Santa Anna’s forces at San Jacinto, effectively winning the war for Texas independence from Mexico.  “Remember the Alamo!” and “Remember La Bahia” or “Remember Goliad” were the battle cries.  If you haven’t visited the San Jacinto Monument in the however-many years you’ve lived in Houston, we highly recommend a field trip.

Celebrate Texas’ independence with us tonight at  Cottonwood Bar, 3422 N Shepherd Dr, at 8 PM.  Have a pint or a mixed drink and possibly enjoy a snack from the menuLone Pint’s Yellow Rose seems particularly appropriate.

Monday, 7 April 2014: Lady Day Birthday Drinks at Liberty Station

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on April 7th, 2014

Liberty StationJoin us at Liberty Station2101 Washington Ave, at 8 PM tonight.  The tap list has great variety for its size, they have a bar full of certifiably-inspired mixed drinks, and if you’re hungry, there’s probably a food truck outside (you are free to brown bag it as well). Oh, there’s some sports thing happening, so there may be a few more people around than is usual for a Monday night. And as always, be mindful of any parking signs, as the situation can change quickly along Washington Avenue.  Particularly, the lot directly to the west of Liberty Station is apparently off limits. Don’t get towed!

On this day in 1915, Billie Holiday was born Eleanora Fagan in Philadelphia, PA.
