Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on January 26th, 2015

2012-12-05 19.50.48On this day in 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip landed with eleven ships full of convicts and marines at Sydney Cove in New South Wales.  This represents the founding of a permanent British colony on the island of Australia, and is today celebrated as Australia Day.  On this day in 1950, the Indian constitution took effect, creating the Republic of India, the most populous democracy in the world.  It is celebrated there and in the (Indian) diaspora as Republic Day.  Celebrate both (or either) with us tonight at  Cottonwood Bar, 3422 N Shepherd Dr, at 8 PM.  We recommend a lager or an IPA in honor of the two great nations, but you have plenty of choices among the pints on the tap list, or perhaps a mixed drink and possibly enjoy a snack from the menu.

Monday, 5 January 2015: Brewer’s Delight at Whole Foods Montrose

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on January 5th, 2015

wholefoodswaughOn this day in 1980, The Sugarhill Gang‘s “Rapper’s Delight” charted on Billboard’s Top 40.  It was the first hip-hop (you don’t stop) track to reach that high-water mark.  The music business would never be the same.  Whether you’re six-foot-one and tons of fun, or you plan to go down as the baddest rapper in history, join us for good times at 8 PM, at Whole Foods Montrose, 701 Waugh.  Do a little grocery shopping while you’re there or grab some dinner–we promise that the macaroni won’t be soggy, the peas won’t be mushed and the chicken won’t taste like wood.  Whether your beer is sweeter than honey or not is down to your personal preference.
