Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on June 23rd, 2014

wholefoodsbigboyOn this day in 1939, Canadian-born Bronko Nagurski defeated Lou Thesz to take the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at the (then-new) Coliseum here in Houston.  Presenting the belt was Houston Mayor Oscar Holcombe. Celebrate this auspicious event in the annals of professional “sports” at 8 PM tonight at Whole Foods, 4004 Bellaire Boulevard (a mere two blocks from the western terminus of Hizzonor’s eponymous boulevard) for a pint or glass. WF have recently completely renovated and expanded their bar area, so this is a great chance to see what they have on tap!
